The TAKS test is designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply specific knowledge and skills at each tested grade level. All TAKS tests are directly aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are administered in the following grades and subjects.
  • Grades 3-9 reading

  • Grades 4 and 7 writing
  • Grade 10 and exit level English language arts (ELA)

TAKS includes several forms that are designed to meet the needs of students served by special education. The forms include the TAKS-A, TAKS-M, and TAKS-Alt. For additional information on these assessments, go to the TEA website or click here.
